Brushed DC motor drivers

The SL-DCM-42 drives brushed DC motors from a 7 to 43 V supply at 30 A continuous, with short-term peaks of 50, 80 and 100 A for start-up and load surges, at 94.5 % efficiency.

It runs one motor in both directions or two motors in one direction each. A four-way DIP switch selects the output configuration, the control input and soft or hard starting and stopping, so one board covers many applications. It is built with AEC-Q100 and AEC-Q101 qualified components.

Choosing a brushed DC motor driver

Size for start-up current

A motor draws far more than its running current when it starts or stalls, so check the peak ratings as well as the continuous one.

Match the supply

A 7 to 43 V input covers 12 V and 24 V systems, and over- and undervoltage protection guards against a supply outside that window.

Pick the control input

Use a switch with a speed potentiometer, an analog voltage from a controller, or a joystick, selected on the DIP switch along with soft or hard start and stop.

Count the motors

Two unidirectional channels drive two motors from one board; one bidirectional channel runs a single motor forwards and in reverse.

Frequently asked questions

Can one SL-DCM-42 drive two motors?

Yes. Set the DIP switch for two unidirectional channels and it drives two motors in one direction each, or set it for one bidirectional channel to run a single motor in both directions.

What control signals does it accept?

A switch with a speed potentiometer, an analog voltage or a joystick, selected on the DIP switch.

What protection does it have?

Short-circuit, reverse-polarity, overvoltage and undervoltage protection.

What is it used for?

Seat, door, mirror and sunroof actuators, HVAC flaps and valves, linear actuators, industrial automation, robotic arms and grippers, and AGV, AMR and UGV platforms.
